As noted on the home page, I started to write the story of HMNZS MONOWAI (A06) with a working title of ‘No Sterner Coast’ – building upon the excellent history of the RNZN Hydrographic Service 1949-1968 by J. O’Ross, ‘This Stern Coast’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I had access, as CO MONOWAI to the Reports of Proceedings files. However, it was a struggle with duties in the ship and I never completed it (and doubtless never will), passing the task to the late Lt Cdr David Price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
David Price sought contributions and memoirs from some former members of MONOWAI’s Ships Company many of which have been included in his work.
